CSC Sports Day 2008!
The first ever Center for Social Change Sports Day held on September 18, at the sprawling Centennial Park in Ellicott City was a monumental success. Individuals from different programs enjoyed a fun-filled day; but above all, their participation reflected the broader impact of sports, including good health, well-being and an opportunity to shine under the soft mellow sunshine of the impending fall weather.
The participation of CSC individuals in sports and having that opportunity, lends to the core mission of CSC - “We Change Lives.”
“The day also touches on our individual’s self-esteem, commitment, drive and personal development,” said Dr. Joseph Mathew, CEO. “It is a matter of celebrating an opportunity…which we feel as care-givers, is our moral duty.”
Individuals were filled with joy and spirit as they competed in a Sack Race, a Soccer Kick-Off, a Bean Bag Toss, Basketball Shoot-Off, an Egg Relay Race, Volleyball, and much more!
Our individuals were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of Mrs. Ivory Coast Brigitte Kobenan, voted Mrs. Congeniality World 2008, and they broke into a loud cheer as she led the individuals in a parade around the park. To this beauty queen, this event had a special meaning, as her platform is to educate the world on autism.
All around, the day was a great success. And it’s not over. One lucky athlete will be presented with the coveted Sportsperson of the Year Award at our Open House in November!
So! Who will be the recipient of that Coveted Award?
