| On June 15, 2010, after six weeks of anxious waiting, it was finally announced that Center for Social Change earned CARF accreditation in the Employment and Community Programs. The CARF accredited services at Center for Social Change include the following: Community Housing, Community Housing (Children and Adolescents), Community Integration, Supported Living, Job Development, Job Supports, and Job-Site Training.
CARF is an acronym for Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and is one of the most well-known and respected international accreditation agencies in the world. Reportedly, only a handful of DDA providers in Maryland can boast CARF accredited programs-just over five percent. CSC now joins the elite ranks of a few selected organizations that serve people with intellectual disabilities in Maryland. CSC went through the rigorous process of the CARF survey back in April this year when six well-qualified surveyors came from all corners of North America to take an in-depth look at everything that Center for Social Change has been doing since 1993 On the third day, CSC staffs were at attention hoping that CARF would finally validate what we had known all along- Center for Social Change provides the utmost quality services to the individuals that we serve. The CARF exit meeting contained praise of CSC’s individuals’ integration into the community, how CSC staffs engages with our individuals, and how our unique employment services benefit CSC's individuals' independence. The team had a few recommendations and offered suggestions as to how we may make changes as we look towards the future of our organization. Center for Social Change is honored to say that we now offer CARF accredited programs and services. For more information on CARF, as well as other providers, visit their website at www.carf.org. |
