Following lunch, the competitions began with the singing of the National Anthem by Alex Vega, assisted by Nathan Stokes. Individual trophies were awarded to competitors in the “Longest Soccer Ball Kick”, “Longest Broad Jump”, “Wheelchair Race”, “Best Dance Moves”, “Longest Football Throw”, “Egg Carry”, and similar events that took place throughout the day. While there were too many trophy winners to mention each individually, the trophy awarded to Cathy C. for her victory in the wheelchair race was especially noteworthy. As MC for the activities, Nathan Stokes ensured that there was music throughout, that announcements were made as needed, and that lost items found their way back to their owners. The volunteer efforts of all of the students from Towson University were especially appreciated, as they assisted individuals in their “quests for gold” and took care of final clean-up.
