2010 MACS Achievement Award - Nathan Stokes
Nathan received the award, which recognizes personal success and community service, for his determination and pride in advocating for himself and other individuals with disabilities. During this past year Nathan served as the President of the Self-Advocacy Group sponsored by Service Coordination, and he also proudly serves on the Board of Directors of CSC.
Nathan is also well-known by all at CSC for his efforts in support of agency-wide events. He serves as DJ for CSC parties, assisted in planning an agency fashion show, and sang “Wind Beneath My Wings” at an Open House.
He exemplifies confidence and growth through his involvement with people in his personal and professional life. Nathan makes every effort to make certain everyone in his life is content. He is considered the “big brother” of his home because of the faithful advice and encouragement he offers to housemates having difficulties. Nathan volunteers at his church in the youth ministry as an assistant pastor for Sunday school, and he aspires to advance his education and pursue a degree in Christian Ministries.
Without fail, Nathan provides constant encouragement to others and always strives for success and independence in his own life. His helpful and generous personality is clearly illustrated through his interactions and relationships with others.
