Autism Center
Residential Habilitation
Residential habilitation services are community-based residential placements for those children who cannot live at home at the present time because they require highly supervised and supportive environments. A child must receive prior approval for this out of home placement by the waiver multidisciplinary team. Autism Center will provide the habilitation services to those children qualified for the service in licensed group homes up to five children and in three person ALUs in most counties of Maryland. Services are designed to assist children in acquiring, retaining and improving self-help, socialization and adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in home and community-based settings. The program is also designed to provide a home-like, therapeutic and safe environment which allows for the child’s eventual return to the family or for the individual to acquire the skills and resources for group or independent living. CSC’s Autism Center staffs will work closely with the child’s service coordinator for the Autism Waiver program in order to provide transition services for every child in placement.
