Brian![]() My name is Brian and I am 42 years old. I have been living in the community since 1993 under the care and guidance of CSC. I have lived in many institutions including Rosewood Center in Maryland from where I came to CSC. With confidence, I can say now that I made the right decision to leave Rosewood Center. I have no doubt in my mind and in the minds of my parents that the past 15 years of my life in the community has been to my advantage. My parents are wonderful people, and I cannot wait seeing them every other weekend. They have moved to Virginia and they may not make it every other weekend. They once did not want me to leave Rosewood Center because they were afraid of my life in the community. But, I always wanted to live outside an institution. My parents are now happy that I have finally found the life style and community life that I have been looking for, thanks to CSC. I love the life in the community that supported me for the past 15 years. Ask my parents, they would agree with me. Recently, my parents wrote, " Shirley and I would like to thank Dr. Joseph Mathews and his devoted staff, for the blessing of our son Brian being the very first client for the center for Social Change... Within a year after entering Dr. Mathews center for Social Change, we began to notice dramatic changes in Brian's behavior..The use of strong drugs had completely stopped, Brian entered a work program, started going to church, social events, ball games, day trips etc... Shirley and I will be ever grateful. Thank you. Colin Smith". In 1994, I lost my best friend who came with me from Rosewood. He died of a chronic illness after living with me in the community for 10 years. CSC took care of my friend well. Today, he is in God's hands! My parents also loved my friend and visited him whenever they came to see me. My goal is to continue to live in the community with the best care I receive from CSC. My parents were felicitated by CSC as the first parents of CSC in its 10th anniversary celebrations in 1994. I felt very proud of them for their decision to place me with CSC. What a wonderful life I have! |
